The Church’s One Foundation

The church’s one foundation
is Jesus Christ our Lord;
we are His new creation
by water and the word;
from heaven He came and sought us
that we might ever be
His living servant people,
by His own death set free.

Called forth from every nation,
yet one o’er all the earth,
our charter of salvation:
one Lord, one faith, one birth,
one holy name professing
and at one table fed,
to one hope we are pressing,
by Christ’s own Spirit led.

We now on earth have union
with God the Three-in-One,
and share, through faith, communion
with those whose rest is won, —
O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we,
like them, the meek and lowly,
on high may dwell with Thee.

(This is a rough translation from the original French words)

Jesus, kneeling at the foot of our heart,
Servant Jesus, Lord Jesus.

Jesus, nailed to the Cross, linked to our hearts,
Servant Jesus, Lord Jesus.

He loves us until the end,
His heart is pierced.

Jesus, the Eucharist, fills us with the Spirit.
Servant Jesus, Lord Jesus.

He loved us until the end,
broken for our hearts.

Jesus, whom we adore, beloved in our hearts.
Servant Jesus, Lord Jesus.

Like Him, we should love until the end,
our hands are His heart.

Jesus, kneeling at the foot of our hearts,
Servant Jesus, Lord Jesus.

Servant Jesus, Lord Jesus.

Shine, Jesus, Shine

Lord, the light of Your love is shining,
in the midst of the darkness, shining;
Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us.
Set us free by the truth You now bring us.
Shine on me; shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine;
fill this land with the Father’s glory;
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow;
flood the nations with grace and mercy;
send forth Your word,
Lord, and let there be light!

Lord, I come to Your awesome presence,
from the shadows into Your radiance;
by Your blood I may enter Your brightness.
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness.
Shine on me; shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine;
fill this land with the Father’s glory;
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow;
flood the nations with grace and mercy;
send forth Your word,
Lord, and let there be light!

As we gaze on Your kingly brightness,
so our faces display Your likeness,
ever changing from glory to glory:
mirrored here may our lives tell Your story.
Shine on me; shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine;
fill this land with the Father’s glory;
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow;
flood the nations with grace and mercy;
send forth Your word,
Lord, and let there be light!
